About Me

My photo
Fiona the Artist
I'm a painter. It's something I have always loved to do, since I was 3 and lived in Nigeria. I also lived in Nicosia, Cyprus from 1984 to 1998 and the experience profoundly affected my colours and direction. I was able to live solely from my work and undertook many commissions (portraits, landscapes, murals), and discovered some unexpected themes (The Turkish Baths). Since my return to the UK in 1998, I have exhibited in London and across the UK, and also in Cyprus, Latvia, Belarus, Greece, Malaysia and China. I have completed a painting residency and Fellowship. Pivotal to my current paintings was my August 2016 painting Fellowship in China (by the Great Wall) which allowed me to further explore my interest in calligraphic brushstrokes. Further examples of my work can be seen on: www.fionastanbury.com
